These lovey pictures from the garden pond forum show a water hyacinth in flower, which I've never seen before. But they do seem to be like a different variety, and here growing in a larger body of water. It could just be that the ones in our small garden ponds don't reach their full potential, or there may be different strains, or varieties of water hyacinth. It may even be a different species altogether, one that isn't really at all suitable for the small pond.
