Current Garden Pond(s) Description : 750 gal 150gal 1100gal

These lovey pictures from the garden pond forum show a water hyacinth in flower, which I've never seen before. But they do seem to be like a different variety, and here growing in a larger body of water. It could just be that the ones in our small garden ponds don't reach their full potential, or there may be different strains, or varieties of water hyacinth. It may even be a different species altogether, one that isn't really at all suitable for the small pond.

Solar Pump for Small Garden Ponds Water Feature

This could make a very useful pump for the small garden pond, since it is solar powered you don't have to worry about transformers or high voltage cabling. In fact if it's not sunny enough where you live maybe you could use it as a 12 volt water pump, or alternatively use the photovoltaic solar panel to power other equipment such as pond lights.
  • No electricity needed just the sun
  • 1W solar panel
  • Water lift height: 18 inches
  • Water flow capacity: 210 L / h
  • Cable length: 15 feet

Product Description
Solar Fountain Pump

Let the sun power your garden or pond fountain…no need for extension cords!

If you want to add a fountain to your bird bath or pond, or switch from your existing electric pump, don’t call an electrician. These powerful, compact, solar-powered pumps are easy to set up yourself. Both feature a separate solar panel that you stake into the ground where sunlight is most accessible; angle can be adjusted for optimum exposure. 15 feet long cord.

The solar pump works whenever it is sunny – has three different types of spouts. No need for an electrical outlet! Great for small garden ponds.

Not a Small Garden Pond, but lovely

It's not a small garden pond but a big nature pond hidden somewhere in south England. I like bats too, we have Daubenton's bats that fly over the pond on Wanstead Flats. They like anywhere with trees near a body of water for feeding.

Small Garden Ponds Water Feature

Here's a water feature in the form of a small water spout and shallow container that is suitable for making small garden ponds almost anywhere.

Useful idea for using preformed ponds to make a pond water feature that would be pretty acceptable in any size of garden really, small medium or large.

Rearing carp: Dinner's in the pond

This is a bit crazy, there's no way you can rear fish for eating in small garden ponds, at least not the kind we have in our back garden. In fact they do say the pond would need to be at least 3 metres by 3 metres, so that's a bout ten foot square, which OK, is a medium sized garden pond I suppose. I don;t think I've ever cooked carp but I've eaten it in china where it's quite common for small farmers to grow carp ponds.

Read the article itself and decide if you think it's feasible to grow edible carp in a small garden pond.
